The Seventh Commandment and Honoring Marriage

Whereas the sixth commandment prohibiting murder is one that seems easily kept, the seventh may give us a bit more pause. Even if we haven’t been outright adulterous in our relationship, many of us feel great shame because of our failures to remain pure.

Jesus doesn’t hold back as he cuts straight to the heart of this commandment, exposing the root of lust that leads to a number of sins. But, he is gracious in his invitation out of shame and through his sacrifice as the spotless lamb who washes us clean.
